- Nationwide roll-out of the new "U.S. Population, Energy
& Climate Change" report
- Materials, backgrounders, and briefings for U.S. Presidential
Transition Teams, the new Obama Administration and Capitol Hill Members'
and Committees' staff, and other leading government and non-government
"influentials" on the issues
- Release of the new "50 States Ranking: Population, Energy
& Climate Change" interactive website map and report
- Production and release of two new briefing reports to nationwide
audiences, on "Global Population and Climate Change", and
"Global Population and the Environment"
- "Biking for Balance" Coast to Coast trip for the
Environment in Summer 2009, to bring attention to the issues and benefit

2005:
Earth Day events,
April 2005
- April 18: "People, Policies and the Planet"
series of briefings and presentations, CEP with Planned Parenthood
Federation of America's Global Partners Program and the Sierra Club,
at University of Connecticut and Wesleyan University, Ct.
- April 19: Yale University's Sustainability Week, features
presentation by CEP linking population to Earth Day issues, New Haven,
Ct.
- April 22: In celebration of Earth Day, "America
in the Global Context" is a side event to the UN's Commission
on Sustainable Development. CEP presentation on the population connections,
with The Nature Conservancy, UNEP, and UNDP. Co-sponsored with
the UN Association of the USA, UN Plaza, New York
(see flyer).
- June 1-5: UN's "World Environment Day (WED)",
CEP has been endorsed by the UNEP to host a series of activities on
the US East Coast, linking population issues to WED's events (see
WED link).
2004:
- September 8-10: "People and the
Environment: Achieving Global Sustainability through Equitable Practices",
UN, New York. The lunchtime presentation and workshop was part of the
UN Department of Public Information's (UN DPI) Annual Midday Interactive
Workshops for NGO's. Vicky Markham, CEP's Director, presented
excerpts from CEP's new "U.S. National Report on Population
and the Environment" (currently in production).
CEP presented the case for the U.S. as a major global player in human
population's environmental impacts, and how it relates to Planned Parenthood
Federation's "A Mother's Promise Campaign" and the UN's Cairo
+10 and Millennium Development Goals (see flyer).
- October 4: "Women's Lives, Children's Futures,
Planet's Hope: The Power and Promise of International Family Planning",
Albany, NY. A Public Forum focused on opportunities to
improve the quality of life for women, their families, and the environment
around the world (see flyer).
- October 22:
CEP hosted a workshop at the Society for Environmental Journalists
(SEJ) 2004 Annual Meeting, Pittsburgh, PA. The session provided
a sneak preview to journalists from the U.S. and around the world of
key findings from the "U.S. National Report on Population
and the Environment". CEP lead a discussion
on the report and on America's role in the global population/environment
arena, in light of "A Mother's Promise Campaign" and the UN's
Cairo +10 assessment.

Philips Exeter Academy, Bard College, and other schools. We have
internship and fellowship opportunities, school activist projects, and
